Cavendish University Uganda (CUU)

Welcome to Cavendish University Uganda

Cavendish University Uganda was established and started operation in 2008 through its mother University Cavendish University Zambia under the Cavendish Africa Group of Universities.

Current License Status

CUU was licensed to operate in Uganda by the National Council for Higher Education in June 2008 however this license expired, and the University is preparing to apply for a Charter ship in order to compete favourably.

For the University to reach the status of a charter, it must fit the requirements of National Council of Higher Education which is a regulatory body in the Country that monitors the operations and activities of universities.

Growth and Development

There is a huge population growth in Uganda and an increase in the demand for higher Education. This is attributed to the Universal primary and secondary education which has created a large market for higher Education in the Country.

During the period of 2008 and year to date, the student numbers have grown to totals of 12635 for intakes and 2669 for graduates. This is shown in the breakdown below:

CUU MILESTONES

• CUU started its operation in Kampala with the University’ location in Wandegeya. As the student body increased, CUU shifted from Wandegeya to Siyani Building in 2010.This later lead to the opening of a second campus at the Kings gate building.
• To expand within the Country, Regional study centres were opened. This includes kisoro in 2011 and started 23 students and now holds a capacity of over 1000 students. Soroti study centre was opened in 2012 with 300 students and Gulu 2014 with 32 students.
• CUU acquired property in Mukono in 2013 with a focus of having a permanent residence in the country.
  • The brand has expanded into regions of Northwest Africa and Northeast Africa
  • External partners joined the Cavendish brand in order to thrust it forward to achieve its vision.
  • Growth and development of staff and students. The University has been able to retain its students to work with the University and given employment to people, hence contributing the economic growth.
